Doksan Castle and Semadaeji
This is the place where Captian Kwon Yeul, a governor of Chunra Province, and 20,000 of his soldiers battled a Japanese army led by Gato Kiyomasa in July 1593 during the Yimjin war.
The Japanese army laid seige to the castle, believing that there was little water available. Captain Kwon Yeul tricked the Japanese army into retreating by washing white horses with white rice on a hill, making them believe that there was plenty of water in the castle.

Osan Market
Location : Osan Market, which is comprised of a shopping center and other small shops on the streets, is centered around a 4 km-long area running from the four corners at Sungho Elementary School to Osan Bridge.
Market history : It has been said that the market was founded around the time that the Korean War broke out. However, Osan Market is mentioned in the Hwasong Kyolriji, published in 1792, providing evidence that the marketplace had existed long before the Korean War.
The marketplace is also mentioned in the Daedongjiji and Suwon Buupji, two other books that were published in 1863 and 1899, respectively.
As such, it is certain that at least 200 years have passed since the market place was first used. |
Other : The market is open from the 3rd to the 8th of every month on the wide road. Vendors from all over Osan gather to buy and sell different items at various prices. However, it is difficult to perceive the exact size and population of the market and the quantity of sales that are made, as most vendors in the market are not officially registered.
